Inauguration Service for on-line worshippers
18 November 2006

Birmingham Diocese is making the most of new technology to enable as wide an audience as possible to watch the inauguration service.

St Philips Cathedral, which was built as a parish church, seats just 800 people but by webcasting the inauguration of the Ninth Bishop of Birmingham, the Rt Revd David Urquhart, we hope many more people will be inspired, encouraged and refreshed by the preaching, prayers, scriptures and music.

Bishop's Director of Communications for the Diocese of Birmingham, Jessica Foster, said; "The inauguration is enormously significant for the church, the city and the region.

"We hope that webcasting the service will enable many people who could not possibly attend the cathedral to share some of the excitement of the day and participate in the worship, where ever they are watching it.

"We hope this service might be shown to people who are not physically able to get to a church as well as in local churches and in our companion dioceses in Malawi.

"We would like to thank everyone who has made this webcast possible, especially CTVC who have worked very hard to make this technology work."
