Birmingham Diocese helps Children’s Society become Co-op’s Charity of the year

The Church of England Children’s Society has become the charity of the year for The Co-operative Group for 2007. This was achieved against stiff opposition from other national charities. The vote was heavily in favour of The Children’s Society based on the votes of its members, many of whom support us in the parishes.

This is a great achievement and will mean that in 2007 we will be working with the Co-op to raise funds for our projects, which we are due to increase in Birmingham with the midlands refugee project coming on stream this year.
We are looking to the Co-op to give support at local level to help the events organised by our loyal supporters in the diocese.

If anyone has ideas as to how this can be put to work, to assist the work for The Society, which is done so well in the diocese, don’t hesitate to let me know and I will make sure we get the best out of this opportunity.
