Care of Buildings: Maintaining and Developing your Church
Welcome to the Care of Buildings section of our website. Here, you will find a wide range of information to help you maintain and develop your important church buildings. You will also find the details of the Diocesan Advisory Committee for the Care of Churches (DAC), which provides free advice and guidance to parishes regarding work to churches and achieving the Faculty permission necessary to move such projects forward. In addition, details of closed churches within the Diocese can be found here, along with lists of available church contents and furnishings suppliers. General Information The 'De Minimis' List: a list of routine matters of replacement and repair not requiring Faculty permission. Churchyard Regulations and Further Guidelines: the current Churchyard Regulations and a general introduction to maintaining and developing your churchyard. DAC Membership: details of the current DAC members, advisers and staff. Quinquennial Inspectors: a list of DAC-approved architects and surveyors available to carry out five-yearly church building inspections in the Diocese of Birmingham. DAC Meetings Next DAC Agenda: a list of business arising at the next meeting of the DAC. Latest DAC Minutes: a description of business transacted at the latest meeting of the DAC. Granted Faculties: a full list of the Faculties granted by the Chancellor last year. DAC Guidance Notes Archaeology Church Buildings and Contents Closed Churches: a list of available churches closed for regular public worship in the Diocese of Birmingham. Central Contents Register: the Church Commissioners’ national list of available church furnishings. Wanted Contents: the Church Commissioners’ national list of furnishings wanted by churches. Suppliers of Church Furnishings and Other Useful Contacts: a list of national church furnishing suppliers and specialists. (N.B.: this list is provided as a source of information only and individuals must satisfy themselves of the suitability of these companies.)
